Límites de Mensajería de WhatsApp
Comprender los niveles de mensajería de WhatsApp API y límites diarios
Updated 10 February 2026
WhatsApp limits how many unique customers you can start conversations with per day. These limits protect the platform from spam and ensure businesses send quality messages. As your account proves itself, the limits increase automatically.
Understanding these limits is critical for planning broadcasts, campaigns, and outreach through WhatChimp.
How Messaging Limits Work
Messaging limits control how many unique users you can send business-initiated messages to in a rolling 24-hour period. This means template messages you send first — not replies to customers who message you.
What counts toward your limit: Every new customer you send a template message to within 24 hours counts as one unique user.
What doesn't count: Replies to customers who message you first (service conversations). These are unlimited and free. If a customer messages you and you reply, that doesn't touch your limit at all.
Example: If your limit is 1,000, you can send template messages to 1,000 different customers in a day. You can send multiple messages to the same customer within an active conversation without it counting again.
Messaging Tiers
| Tier | Daily Limit | Who Gets It |
|---|---|---|
| Unverified | 250 unique users | New accounts without business verification |
| Tier 1 | 1,000 unique users | Verified businesses (starting level) |
| Tier 2 | 10,000 unique users | After scaling from Tier 1 |
| Tier 3 | 100,000 unique users | After scaling from Tier 2 |
| Unlimited | No cap | Verified businesses with consistent high quality |
Limits Are Portfolio-Level (October 2025 Change)
Since October 2025, messaging limits are shared across all phone numbers in your Business Portfolio — not per phone number.
What this means: If your portfolio is at the 10K tier, that's 10,000 unique users total across all your numbers combined. Not 10K per number.
The upside: When you add a new phone number to your portfolio, it immediately gets access to your portfolio's current tier. No starting from scratch at 250.
The risk: Poor messaging practices from any single number can affect the shared limit for all numbers in your portfolio.

How to Scale Up — Automatic Tier Upgrades
Meta automatically increases your tier when you meet three conditions:
1. Your phone number is connected — Active and in "Connected" status.
2. Your quality rating is Medium or High — Not Low or Flagged.
3. You've used at least 50% of your current limit in the past 7 days — If your limit is 1,000, you need to have initiated conversations with at least 500 unique users in the past week.
When all three conditions are met, Meta evaluates your account every 6 hours and upgrades you one tier.
Upgrade Examples
Fast scaling (3 days):
- Day 1: Send to 300 unique users
- Day 2: Send to 250 unique users
- Day 3: Total reaches 550 (over 50% of 1,000) → Upgraded to 10K within 6 hours
Gradual scaling (7 days):
- Days 1-6: Send to ~80 unique users per day (480 total)
- Day 7: Send to 60 more (540 total, over 50%) → Upgraded to 10K within 6 hours
What Can Downgrade Your Tier
If your quality rating drops to Low for 7 consecutive days, Meta will downgrade your tier by one level. This is why maintaining message quality matters — see the Quality Rating section below.
2026 Update: Faster Scaling for Verified Businesses
Meta is rolling out a major change in Q1-Q2 2026 that removes intermediate tiers for verified businesses. Once your business completes Business Verification, you'll immediately receive a 100K daily messaging limit — skipping the gradual 1K → 10K → 100K progression.
This means verified businesses can go from 250 (unverified) to 100K in a single step by completing verification.
If your business isn't verified yet, see How to Verify Your Meta Business Manager.
Quality Rating — Why It Matters
Your quality rating determines whether your messaging limits go up, stay the same, or go down. Meta evaluates quality based on how recipients interact with your messages over the last 7 days.
Rating Levels
| Rating | Status | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| High (Green) | Excellent | Users are engaging well. Eligible for tier upgrades. |
| Medium (Yellow) | Acceptable | Some room for improvement. Still eligible for upgrades. |
| Low (Red) | Poor | Users are blocking or reporting you. Risk of tier downgrade. |
| Flagged | Critical | Severely degraded quality. Immediate action required. |
What Affects Your Rating
Blocks — When users block your number. This is the biggest negative signal.
Reports — When users report your messages as spam.
Read rates — Low read rates indicate users aren't interested in your messages.
Block reasons — WhatsApp tracks why users block you: "Didn't sign up", "Spam", "Too many messages", "Offensive content", etc.
How to Maintain High Quality
- Only message people who opted in — Never send to purchased lists or people who didn't explicitly agree to receive messages from you
- Personalize your messages — Generic blasts get blocked more often than relevant, targeted messages
- Don't over-message — Sending too frequently is the fastest way to get blocked
- Provide easy opt-out — Include a way for users to stop receiving messages (e.g., "Reply STOP")
- Segment your audience — Send marketing to interested users, not your entire contact list
- Time your messages well — Don't send at odd hours or on holidays
How to Check Your Limits
You can check your current messaging tier and quality rating in WhatsApp Manager:
Go to whatchimp.com/whatsapp-manager → Overview → Limits section. You'll see your current tier, quality rating, and how close you are to the next upgrade.

For quality rating per phone number, go to Account tools → Phone numbers and check the quality column next to each number.

What Happens When You Hit Your Limit
When you reach your daily limit:
- New outgoing template messages to unique users will fail — You'll get an error code from the API
- Existing conversations continue normally — You can still reply within active 24-hour windows
- Customer-initiated messages still come through — Users can message you anytime, and your replies don't count toward the limit
- Messages don't queue — Failed messages need to be resent after capacity frees up
- Limit resets on a rolling basis — As conversations from 24+ hours ago expire, capacity becomes available again
Tip: If you're consistently hitting your limit, that's a good problem — it means your tier upgrade is likely just hours away (assuming your quality rating is Medium or High).
Planning Your Campaigns
When planning a broadcast or campaign through WhatChimp, keep these limits in mind:
- Check your current tier before scheduling a large broadcast
- Spread large campaigns across multiple days if your audience exceeds your daily limit
- Start small with new templates — Send to a small segment first, check quality, then expand
- Monitor quality after large sends — Watch for blocks and reports in the hours after a campaign
- Use service conversations strategically — Encourage customers to message you first (e.g., via WhatsApp click-to-chat ads) since replies are free and unlimited
